I spent nearly all day writing the first chapter of the third installment of the Set Fire 'verse. Chapter two is mostly written already and chapter one is INFINITELY better thanks to thornfield_girl. :D
Ugh, someone tell me not to RP slash hockey players. NOW. DANGER DANGER.
Everyone read THIS FIC. The writer is new to Justified (only their second

Yes! I have the sign up stuff in another open window! I just need to fill it out!
Hah! That hockey fic! My goofball hockey-loving 16 year-old son wants to READ it. Mom says, "Not until I read it first!" I might have to cut the smutty parts out. Ah, motherhood!

Yay!
And uuuugh. The slash report girls recced a hockey fic last fall (Crosby/Malkin) and I read half of it and couldn't continue. RPF usually weirds me out, but I am strangely drawn to hockey fic. Whyyy? Why?!
Also, RAYLAN KISSED AVA. THREESOME FIC NOW PLEASE, EVERYONE.
DUDE. When that happened, I immediately flashed back to that awesome Ava/Boyd/Raylan fic you wrote a few weeks ago. Why couldn't have they have done the backroom scene? ;)

I do not know.
HOWEVER, from Boyd's line later about how he hoped Raylan's meeting with Ava didn't go too well. I'm thinking he's still hasn't come around to the fact that a threesome is an EXCELLENT idea.
I have become a hockey fan, more specifically, a Penguins fan, prompted by sudden overwhelming love for Sidney Crosby's face, which prompted this cascade failure of... well suffice it to say, I watched the game last night, a whole game of hockey, for the first time ever, and was completely riveted. My father was bewildered and amused.
Also, I've a friend who. Um. So she might've gotten me started on hockey RPF. Some of it is slash. AND I AM INTO NEITHER OF THESE THINGS BUT IT'S SO COMPELLINGLY WRITTEN. It helps if you have no idea who the people in the fic are, because it overcomes the RPF!squick and the 'but hey, evidence strongly suggests these fellows are straight' compunction at the same time.
So in summary, if you started writing hockeyfic I wouldn't be heartbroken, s'all I'm sayin'.

Well, I would probably have to read some first, and I'm a little worried that my disbelief would have some trouble being suspended adequately to read fic written by someone not from Pittsburgh (or at least well-versed in the city and the Penguins sports fandom).
Let me give you an example for the fic reced above that I tried, I TRIED to read.
In this fic, Ovechkin and Crosby are skating with kids in Pittsburgh for charity and this one kid FROM PITTSBURGH, says
“I’m Andy! You’re my favorite player ever except my dad and Jamie - that’s my older sister and she’s a know-it-all but Mom says that I’m going to be taller than her someday - they both always tell me that you can’t be my favorite player because you’re a Capital and we’re supposed to hate you but you always score the best goals!” the boy says, throwing his arms up in the air.
NO. I'm sorry, but NO. No self-respecting kid from Pittsburgh, born and raised, who is a Penguins hockey
( ... )
I think you should write what you want, but don't ask me to beta any weird hockey nonsense, that's all I'm saying. Good lord!
And now I'm wondering if I can prevent myself from checking to see what baseball slash might be floating around out there. I have never even considered that (because I don't like RPF), but now I'm oddly curious.
Oh man, if I did write any (and should my sister ever find out, she would KILL me to DEATH) I would beta inside that community. No one who is not into it should ever be subjected to that.
I finally bit the bullet and read on last night and (as rilla will tell you) and I was alternately, laughing, crying, and yelling THIS IS SO TERRIBLE, but secretly finding it awesome.
I will be sticking to justified though, and other fictional fandoms. RPF is too borderline squicky for me and I do not want that shit all over my brainspace all the time. It would be crazy.

I actually kind of live in fear of him finding out that I have a bookmark folder marked "Redwings slash."

Ovechkin. Have you seen his face? And those terrifying commercials from like two years ago that were just his head in that one kid's bag/locker???
Obv. I am a pens purist and I will only slash them under the banner of team camaraderie and lurve. :P

Don't worry, I'll work on convincing him. :P
