I imagine the Platonic ideal ice-cream color to be a vanilla that is a warm off-white shade, skewing slightly towards a pale (true) butter color (not the nasty dyed yellow imposter that often passes itself off as vanilla.)

Trivia:

Vanilla beans come from the vanilla orchid. I read somewhere that the blooms only last one day, and each bloom must be polinated by hand in order to produce a single vanilla bean, and it takes years to produce the final product. So much work for something that we take for granted!
