that seems like a pretty hard case to argue actually - but obviously you got through. go for ACT state team and come and be terrorised by ms disney at melbourne nationals next year! :P
Yeah, it seemed it at first, but after a few minutes we came up with some arguments. And I will, being terrorised by Ms Disney sounds like great fun. :P
Secret/impromptu topics are good for lazy people like me, too.
I wonder whether having a topic you don't agree with might make you build a stronger case. Seems like the other side might have slacked off a bit, assuming they already knew all the arguments, and thus not been able to present a coherent thingy.

And yeah, I think it does, at least in some cases - you feel that you have to convince yourself as well as the audience so you try harder.
