Is anyone willing to come to Kent to help me? I would be happy to offer a scenic tour of the city in return, and of course crash space to those coming from outside NE Ohio.

Ok I can't help with most of this :-( But have you tried saving your documents to googledoc? I think they can handle wordperfect and I know open office won't be an issue. It's online storage so you might want to re-save them once you figure out the other issues but I keep some of my important docs there as a backup backup. Good luck!

I usually recommend Ubuntu, which is quite user-friendly, and I know a number of non-technical people using it (ask Sue!). Mint is based on Ubuntu, and I've also heard good things about its user-friendliness ( ... )
