Ohio bans mammograms for women under 50 without insurance

Ohio has decided to end its program of free mammograms for low-income and unemployed women between the ages of 40 - 49. Exceptions will not be made for family history. Underpaid and unemployed women 50 and over will still be able to receive mammograms ( Read more... )

The budget cut was about $300,000. How come the elected officials can't take a pay cut or a reduction in their benefits? Oh yeah, most of the them are men with their heads up their backsides.

That's a problem I have, too. There are so many ways to find that money - a maximum wage for government officials (say, 20 times the minimum wage), not instituting the proposed tax cuts (and I wouldn't object to a tax wage), eliminating mandatory prison sentences for non-violent drug offenders...In most cases regarding health care, the problem is not that the money isn't there, it's in the way the money is allocated.

Everyone knows that women WILL die because of this. That's not hyperbole, it's simple fact. We have the ability AND resources to prevent this, but too many people value money over human life.
