Clark didn’t want to seem insensitive. He really did care.
Hawkman’s destiny was crueler than mortality. Clark too was doomed to bury all those he loved; but he presumed that if he died, it would be forever.
He empathized with Dr. Fate’s burden. Even with his strength, Clark felt the weight of what he was; of course such power would twist a weaker human mind.
He knew that Stargirl’s drive was really grief: she had lost her mentor. Having never had one himself, he could only imagine her pain.
But forgive him - none of this really mattered.
