Shockwave had been planning on answering, of course, but his temporary partner (hopefully for not much longer), in what Shockwave could now characterize as a typical display of impatience, started speaking before he could organize his report for relay ( ... )

Barricade used his upside-down time to try to rank the things that sucked in his life. Slug-goo had been the worst, until Shockwave had taken liberties with his doorhandles (which proved that 'playing possum'? SUCKED as a strategy. Oh, right. Earth strategy. Same-same.)

And then, of course, Gaudyscream had to show up, just to witness the oh so appealing spectacle, as the freaky spidermech poked and....kinda tickled...unloading supplies.

Right. Point taken, and Barricade was topped off on humiliation and abuse--two staples of the Decepticon diet. He unfolded himself, before Shockwave would decide to 'help' flip him over with, say, a brisk kick.

"Yes, sir," he said. It even sounded semi-sincere. He needed a washrack more than he needed another aft-chewing.

Well...duh.

Ugh. That's right. Starscream was here.

Shockwave was less than enthused. The foolishness of trying to unload materials with no working hands was imagery he was aware of, and Starscream's sudden entrance caught him off guard. He wanted Megatron to see that he would attempt the impossible for him...but somehow Starscream's presence elicited the beginnings of embarrassment. Only he could manage that.

He chose to ignore the jet.

"Lord Megatron, do you have any new orders for your loyal soldier?" he asked, "My will is at your command." A part of him hoped he'd get repaired sooner than later (but not before his leader), but being given an important task and carrying it out successfully would be just as pleasant. Anything to prove to the Air Commander that he was a loyal, trusted subordinate.

Starscream was some parts disappointed by the lack of reaction his pointedly rude entrance had garnered, but decided to count his blessings - his absence could have easily warranted some form of discipline. It was just his luck that Barricade had momentarily absorbed Megatron's physical wrath and that everyone else involved wasn't in perfect operational condition.

Still, he was agitated by Shockwave; nothing particular about him, just the usual aggravation that the moronic sycophant tended to elicit. Anyone who could blindly follow an idiot such as Megatron had to be truly glitched (or a coward, but he didn't want to give Shockwave even that much credit).

"Lord Megatron, allow your most competent soldier to make amends," Starscream followed up, moving closer with a slight bow of how helm. "I assure you, from this moment forward, any command you give to me will be handled with the most capable of hands," he couldn't help the slight jibe; Shockwave was just too pathetic to pass up mocking.

The Decepticon commander considered the two mechs before him as Scalpel worked. Shockwave seemed fairly useless until his arm was tended to, but Starscream was in perfect working order and had done nothing since he had arrived ( ... )

"Heh heh," Scalpel snickered quietly at the obvious rivalry between Shockwave and Starscream, as he completed Megatron's repairs. He noted the pressure was low in the energon lines he had repaired, but there was no need to mention this. The Doktor concluded, from the Leader's command to Starscream, that Megatron's own diagnostics were now able to alert him to the low fluid levels ( ... )

Soundwave?! Now that was the first good news Shockwave had heard since poorly performing his mission. Soundwave was second only to Megatron on the list of mechs he trusted and considered worthy of his respect. He abstained from replying to the transmission however, as Megatron had already said what needed to be said. Soundwave's arrival was a spot of light to anticipate in the dreary outlook of a base filled with an angry Megatron and a...Starscream. Just Starscream.

To Scalpel, "You have my thanks, medibot." Shockwave made no mentions of being indebted or owing a return favor; Decepticons didn't deal in such things. Gratitude was a rarity all on its own.

"My lord," he tentatively inquired, "What are our plans after our rendezvous with Soundwave? Our environment is hostile; Autobots and planetary defenses plague this alternate Cybertron. Soundwave and I can create a tactical plan for the base, if we are to remain here." He didn't even consider Starscream's potential for input. His plans were inept at best, destructive at worst.
