This is not good, considering Tampere is one of Europe's leading centres of Medical and Biotechnology research. I expect doctors there to know what they're doing.
I fail to see the logic behind that comment, I'm afraid. How would the level of the biotechnology research make the diagnosing skills of the acute ward doctors better? The researchers and the hectic environment of the acute ward have very little in common.
Yeah, well. Research =/= bedside manners. I'd say they don't know that well what they're doing if they send a patient that can't even stand properly to a place where she's supposed to be exercised. Gran just wasn't feeling well enough yet, and that's that. But she is feeling a bit better now and has been moved back to the recovery home. Everything should be fine as long as they don't except her to do anything impossible.
Poor grandma! How is she now? What happened to her the first place? Heart attack? Angina pectoris? What kind of treatment is she getting now?
I have to say, though, that I see this also in the doctor POV, since chest pain, especially on elder women with pre-existing conditions, is very hard to treat since the symptoms can be very atypical and misleading indeed.
I hope your grandma gets more accurate treatment this time and gets better.
I'm not exactly sure what happened to her because she was initially moved to the hospital when I was still in Canada. She's feeling better now (so says my Mom on Facebook), has been moved back to the recovery home, and has decided to become healthy again so that she can go back home. I can't help but being a bit worried for her, in any case. She is rather old and this isn't the first time she's having problems like this.
I do hope the doctors know what they're doing but sometimes it seems like many of them are willing to move their patients away just to get free beds.
