I want to kick Finnish hospitals.
My Gran isn't feeling very good at all: she can't stand properly right now and if she tries to stand, she starts getting chest pains. It was quite a while ago that she fell over in her apartment and couldn't get up, after which she was taken to the main hospital in Tampere. After a shortish stay there, a week or two I think, she was moved to a smaller hospital to recover. There, it was decided that when she's fit enough, she'll be moved to a recovery home of sorts where she'll be properly exercised so that she'll be good on her own again. Yesterday, a doctor told my dad that he would do some tests on Gran to see if she'll be good to move.
Today, in the morning, she was moved to the recovery home. She could barely sit up, much less stand and walk around to get fit. It was not that she was lazy or unwilling, it just wasn't physically possible for her at that point. And the staff at the home generally acknowledged that if a patient was moved there, he or she was fit enough to be trained back to health, so of course they tried to make her walk around and so on. After trying to do so, Gran started getting chest pains again which made the staff realize that she was not fit enough to be there. An hour ago or so my Mom received a phone call where she got to hear that Gran was going to be moved to a first aid place (or something, the details are hazy to me).
The point is, my Gran was moved to a recovery home when she clearly was not fit enough, and the doctors should have seen that. Mom is furious and so am I. My Gran is old and has never had particularly good health and she deserves better than this. One option for the future is that she moves in my room, which I completely welcome her to do.
I just hope that everything will be okay.
