 From  thefirstalleycat:

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.  Well, I've read 45 of the top 100, but that's still pretty pitiful.  What's really sad is that I don't recognize some of these titles!

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicise those you intend to read.

I have a dear friend of mine that adores Confedracy of Dunces. I frankly abhor the book. I just never tell her that or she will blow a gasket.

I recomend you read "The Handmaids Tale" "Tess Of D'Urbervilles (my favorite ook in college lit class)and I can't believe you have not read "The Color Purple"

I know, I feel like an uncultured, unlettered, illiterate boob! I've printed out a copy of that list and am going to read as many of the books on it as I can stomach.

Is the Color Purple that good? I never saw the movie, and really have no idea what it's about.

Oh yes, The Color Purple is that good. You'll get irked and want to kill a character in particular. Still the triumph of story will overwhelm all in the end.

Very impressive.

I've never seen any real point to The Little Prince, though my husband loves it.

The Color Purple, on the other hand, I recommend.

Moby Dick, Dracula, and The Three Musketeers I am unlikely to ever read. I'm not crazy about their premises/settings.

I guess you like Jane Austen. I should read more of hers. And the Brontes.

I liked Jane Austen a lot more than the Brontes. However, I cheated just a bit...my college lit. professor LOVED the Austens and we read a lot of them. They were certainly better than Billy Budd by Herman Melville. YUCK!!!!

Everyone tells me that about Bridget Jones, but I never seem to get around to it. Maybe I should have a ladies night at my house and we'll watch some chick flicks together.
