Beauty and the Beast

We managed to do the fight scene today...it only took two hours to get it all together. There's a lot of mayhem going on, people running every which way, so it's not surprising that it took awhile. My favorite section involves my son, who is a candlestick, kneeling on Belle's chair head down and flames pointing forward. They back me out of the ( Read more... )

Zucchini [we grow corgettes] can appear over night and triple their length in one day. Amazing vegetables! We're growing loads this year.

Apparently so! I've never tried zuchini before, but the girls adore it grilled with a bit of garlic and olive oil drizzled on it, so I thought we'd try some. My hubbies suggestion for this monster was to stuff it, it would probably feed half the neighborhood! We've lived here for five years now, and this is the first time I've had a truly successful garden. FINALLY!

How's your ankle feeling?

Much better thankyou. It's bruised but the swelling has gone down and I can walk on it without limping now. It's survived 4 hours today so far and has another 2 to go this evening as I have to give a talk to the local W.I. ladies.

W.I. Ladies? Dare I ask? I didn't read that line carefully the first time and I thought it said WII ladies...and I wondered when you'd taken up the WII!

Glad your ankle is better, it's the pits being mobility challenged!

Zuccs grow huge seemingly overnight. The rule in our house is to pick them before they compete with the male members of the household ;)

It's quite versatile and I can't ever have enough some years- zucchini fritters, zucchini chocolate cake, zucchini lasagne, zucchini and corn tortelli casserole, stir fried with green beans and black bean sauce... House favs here are deep fried sticks with ranch dressing, and grated fritters mixed with grated carrot and sliced onion, served with soy sauce (Korean pancakes). The really big ones I grate up and freeze for adding to pasta/spagetti sauce (thaw and sqeeze/drain) to thicken it up.

Congrats on the garden - I've not one this year, as I will be away so much.

I'd be grateful for any recipes you chose to pass along....it seems I will be getting lots of the not-so-little buggers this summer!

No problems. I'll email them tonight so I don't spam your journal here - off to work now.

You're the armoire, right?

No, unfortunately. That's the part that I wanted, but it went to a lady who is much taller than I am. I am a villager and a layered tray. I was thinking I got off easy this year, but there are 5-6 huge chorus numbers plus several costume changes, so it's going to be busy for us too.

How are things with you?
