4.04: Time for some thrilling heroics.

Jul 02, 2007 18:31

The Mainframe populace go about their business as usual, if disturbingly cheerfully. The air is filled with cars and zipboards, not CPUs and tanks.

Everything's quiet, more or less.

Of course, given the group that's just coming in from Milliways, that's not liable to last long.

And finally finally, Frisket, sniffing, growling, and occasionally sneezing at the patches of infection on the floor.

"Okay, everyone here?" calls Enzo. "Follow me."

He leads the way down the stairs (pausing as necessary for Matilda to manoeuvre her crates down) and through the house to the garage. It looks approximately like any garage on most Earths, except that the car has no tires. They're not missing, it's just not designed to have them.

Enzo points out a shelf that's too high for him to reach easily. "There's the zipboards. Everyone take one if you can't fly by yourself."

Bruck takes one, and looks at it. "I...stand on this, right?" Pause. "And it flies?" He deploys it on the floor, and steps aboard...slightly unsteady at first. "Cool!"

Easily impressed? Perhaps. But also...it's just plain cool.

There's enough room in the garage for Matilda to stack her crates out of everyone's way, and she beckons ostentatiously to a zipboard, bringing it within her reach with a look.

She displays no small amount of glee as she steps on top and finds her balance.

"Thanks, Enzo!"

Kitt watched as both Bruck and Matilda took their places hovering above the floor, and he glanced back toward the door. "Is there, perhaps, an easy way to the street level from here?"

"Oh, we're at street level," Enzo assures him. He doesn't think the question odd, though; when your cars fly, ground-level garages are not strictly necessary.

"Thank heavens," he murmured, not reaching for a zip board in the least. "I think I'll go on my own power."

A huge grin splits Oracle's face as she hops on a zip board and tries a few small experimental spins in place. "Oh, wow, have I missed this."

"You've used zipboards before?" He didn't think Users had them.

"Oh, no." She laughs and does another little spin in place. "I've missed having legs that work. Though I'm pretty sure I'm going to love this," she nods down at the board.

Flying was definitely not something she could do.

It was only due to Nall and Merlin that she wasn't freaked out by the notion of it. Instead there was only some whimsy of curiosity and a littler nervousness since no one would be holding her hand.

"I'll take one."

Grinning as she got on, she tried it out with some minor starts for changing balance but after that she looked lilke she was getting the hang of it and starting to just play with it.

"Amazing."

The power, during Tommy's little discussion with it immediately after being digitized, had informed him of a few differences. This is his first opportunity to check them out, though. He scoots back a bit from everyone, in case something goes horribly awry.

It's like an expansion on the energy abilities he has back on Earth, he decides as he begins to rise into the air. He's the only Ranger who has them, that much he knows, and he's only been able to convince the team to let him use them in training a few times. Testing their full functionality, something he can really only do here in Mainframe, is going to be fun.

"Oh," he says with a huge grin as he does a lazy circle of the garage, "I'm gonna LIKE this."

Yeah, yeah, he'll be all business in the field -- he's a field leader, a pack leader, and he's got the mentality. But that doesn't mean he's not going to enjoy things. He experimentally lobs a ball of energy across the garage (and notes with regret that even here, they're still bright purple), then zips over to catch it before it ( ... )

"Oh, sweet! How can you do that? You've got a separate keytool." Bob only got his powers by merging with Glitch.

Nothin' wrong with purple. The entire Matrix family has purple eyes. You wanna tell Matrix that's unmanly?

"I'm not absolutely sure," Tommy admits. "But I have a couple theories. Back on Earth I serve as a Power Ranger; we're kinda like your Guardians, I think, though when I talked about it with Bob he mentioned there are a bunch of Guardians. There are only five of us. We take out the bad guys, repair or reverse the damage they do, defend the Earth, and so on ( ... )

"Keytools're really cool. They can turn into all kinds of stuff, and make energy beams and shields, and do scanning and tell you Game stats and stuff like that. You just gotta say your keytool's name and what you want it to do. Like 'Glitch - stats!' They usually know what you mean."

Tommy grins.

"Man, that's sweet. I wish we had something like this back home. We have some similar technology, but not in portable form yet. I'll mention it to Hayley, it'll give her something to think about on her days off."

This whole keytool thing appeals to the geek in him, it really does. Tommy looks down at his arm again.

"I'm gonna go out on a very thick limb here and guess that its name is Brachio, considering I use the Brachio Morpher." And the Brachiozord, and the Brachio Staff, and so on...

"Prob'ly," Enzo agrees cheerfully. "You can fly with that, too. Bob usually had Glitch do a rotor."
