So I was thinking about what would have happened on screen between our boys if the show hadn't been cancelled. What storylines they would have had, how their relationship would have progressed, etc. etc ( Read more... )

I agree with everything you just posted. Although, sadly, I think these are the most likely of all:

I also think they would have definitely had sex, though we wouldn't have seen anything. It would have been a fade-to-black, and then we'd never get another "sex scene" again, just like with Nuke.

I think Noah would have gone off to LA, never to be heard from again. \o/

I think they'd probably be relegated to the background, to be honest. They'd become the happy, boring gay couple.

I think ESS and Van would have both decided to leave the show after a year or so...I'd add: kid storyline. It's the "in" thing to do with canon gay couples these days, and Luke's born to be a dad. Could definitely get some meaty soap acting out of that as he tries to convince Reid he'd be a great dad too. (Or they could even surprise and go the other way - Luke thinking he's too messed up to be a dad, etc ( ... )

Poor editing on my part - all of those would be sad except for Noah disappearing. Obviously, that would be a great, and the most likely, development.

Interesting discussion and we all think about this given the massive amounts of fiction out there post-canon.

Sex? Yes, please. I know the writer-who-shall-not-be-named did mention that if the show continued, she would've made sure that Luke and Reid had an active sex life--not that we'd see any of it, of course.

Reid working long hours and Luke whining about it? Yes, of course.

I think Luke would be the one with an admirer, because God knows the poor boy was never wanted by Noah. I think a young guy would become interested in Luke and there'd be a whole thing with an insecure Reid, worrying that Luke would dump him for a younger guy. (Not because I think Reid would think that, but it is a soap, and they'd need a dumb soapy storyline!). I think Reid would do a lot of moping on Katie's couch with ice-cream!I think this could've happened even though I would like it to be an older guy so Reid would feel a bit more insecure that it wasn't just some younger guy hitting on his young, hot boyfriend. And since Luke goes for the older guys ( ... )

I agree with you that these are all likely scenarios. I think we also might have seen someone from Reid's past come and create some drama, either a jealousy thing or something else, because:

a. Reid's past is kind of wide open and they could have done anything they wanted, and...
b. God knows this show liked to bring on new characters

I also think a storyline involving the decision to have a child would have happened had Van and Eric stuck around long enough, because JP mentioned that in one of her interviews. There would have been angst around the fact that Reid didn't want to have a kid and Luke did, but in the end Reid would have changed his mind.

Yeah, she did talk marriage and babies and the whole shebang. So of course it made perfect sense to kill him instead. :| :| :|

But yes! It seems a v likely scenario, straight from the horse's mouth. And Reid SO would have changed his mind! :D
