Part Fourteen: "That kid. He never ceases to blow my mind, you know?"

Yes, Rose, we totally know! Luke Snyder: blowing people's minds with his awesomeness since 2001.

First of all, big ups to rhiannonhero, who has been editing all these old clips and uploading them for our enjoyment as we journey back to a time when this show could afford the rights to use ABBA music -- even if it was a Muzak instrumental of "The Winner Takes ( Read more... )

Whew! Glad trouble in Oakdale is over for now. Luke is okay!

Slow-mo shooting of Dante--this is why I loved soaps. Cheesy and so dramatic.

I can just imagine Reid telling Luke all about the craziness that ensued when he attended his first Oakdale wedding and then Luke waving him off and topping Reid Reid's story with his own crazy--crazier--wedding tales.

I'm guessing Jack wasn't on the force at this time but was private security for Lucinda? He had an amazing scene with Luke. That little Luke did an incredible job. Most child actors only sit and nod their heads.

I had to rewind a couple times. With recasts of Paul and Craig I didn't recognize them at first. The entire town did show up for the weddings back then.

Was this the first of many "Its all my faults" from Luke? The show did do an amazing job keeping his character consistent...how'd that happen?

On to Luke's next crisis.

Is it just me but does it now seem odd to see Luke [any incarnation of him] feel guilty about something without saying, "I'm so, so sorry, Noah. It's all my fault"?

Marland had been gone more than a few years I believe. In the late 90s they were under threat of being cancelled and they brought in a new head of daytime (from ABC) and eventually a new head writer and the show really turned around. They went into what I've always referred to as their last "golden age." I couldn't believe that I would race home every day from work to watch, but I did, the shows were that good. I should also mention that a certain director was named EP, but I don't think he had started putting his imprint on the show so much at this point.

Re: Abigail and Luke being much closer in age now then the used to be . . .yeah, that's kinda weird. It's like when Faith and Natalie used to be much closer in age. In a perfect world, there'd be no SORASing. In an almost perfect world, they'd SORAS everyone at the same time for the same number of years. YMMV

But this time Molly is missing her mascara streaked cheeks. The crying thing must have been only for her last go round.

I was always sad that the show never gave Hunt Block's Craig and Carly a shot. I liked them.

Yeah, I think they had a one night stand and never followed up on it though Craig was more than ready to do so! I kept hoping Carly would see that Craig (as he was written for HB) was a much better match for her than Jack (IMO). Those two were combustible when they were together on the screen!

Was this pre Parker?

I liked all of Carly's pairings. Maura West always did an incredible job making her pairings believable even if it was obvious the characters didn't belong together (ie Holden)

Parker was already born by this time. (He was a redhead when he was very small....)
