Luke's rebuffing of Reid pissed me off SO BAD when I first watched it, because it seemed like Luke was still completely hung up on Noah, and/or the writers were bowing down to the soap opera gay police super censoring BS. I didn't think it was the right time or place for sexytimes (and LOL @ horny!Reid for trying), but Luke's response is like, "Not here, not there, not ANYWHERE. SRY!" I like how folk here have more optimistic interpretations of it all, but I just can't feel the same. Though Reid's little finger gesture at the end is freakin' adorable.
While I feel that his reasons for doing so were because CBS didn't want gay sexytimes on its network, I am glad that Luke didn't have sex when he wasn't ready, and that Reid -- while disappointed -- understood. It makes me laugh when TPTB say that Luke grew up when Reid died. Actually, he grew up over the past months after meeting Reid and being free of his toxic relationship with Noah. Luke really came into his own, and didn't need to Learn Through Tragedy.
But anyway! So many things to love here, such as THAT KISS OMG. And Reid and the kids! So, SO cute. OH, REID. He's made of awesome.

It doesn't make me laugh, it makes me want to stab people! Luke definitely did all the growing up he needed starting when he broke things off with Noah for good. He didn't need to have the man he loved die to grow up. I mean, hell, if that's what it takes to grow up, I'm pretty sure almost all of us here are still immature little children. Just the idea that Luke needed Reid to DIE so he could grow up is one of the most asinine things anyone associated with the show has ever said, and they've said a lot of really asinine things.
Yes, when I say "laugh" I mean only in the sense that it's so ludicrous! *joins in the stabbing*
I really do hate the notion that death is required to make people mature and grow. You see it all the time in movies and on TV, and it's so insulting. Tragedy is somehow deemed artier and/or deeper. Bullshit, I say!
Full disclosure: I've never been a Carly fan. The actress is fantastic and deserves all of her accolades but she's a character who does things like letting her kids think she's dying of a brain tumor. Not cool. In fact, I was a Julia Lindsay/Jack Snyder shipper back in the day before they made Julia go bonkers and do things like rape Jack. Anyway, her plan to delay the wedding was completely pointless [but props to Jack for looking so amused by it] and her going on about what Holden would expect from Molly drove me batcrap insane. She couldn't have just been supportive of Molly without devising some scheme
( ... )
"I really like you and I'm very attracted to you. But I really need to take it slow."
YES! If he had said something like that, it could have been a very sweet moment. And really, if you look at Luke at any given moment during this episode, he looks like he's mentally drawing hearts around Reid and planning their future commitment ceremony, so when he brings up Noah, it's like, where did that even come from? I also can't for the life of me understand why he would associate, of all things, a honeymoon suite with him. Make-up sex and ice cream with Lucinda? Tie adjustments? Fine. But flowers and fruit trays? Really?
You know, it's really hard for me to enjoy the awesomeness in this ep (and there's a lot of it!) because I see the honeymoon suite scene and I'm all HFFIKFKLVFHKBLLIOJKKK!! with rage, every single time. When Luke pulls away after Reid leans in for a kiss, I flinch and die a little inside. After the final hospital scene that never happened, and the 5/31 scene at Yo's, this is my least favorite Luke/Reid moment. /Negative Nancy
However, all that stuff aside, Reid is super adorbs in this ep, and his hair looks really, really good. I wish we got to see more of him interacting with kids, because it's precious. And Luke's epic face of happiness in the second to last picture is amazing!
I agree-my emotions are mixed with this one. I think Luke had some good reasons to pull away, but I still flinch too. I still want them to be together here or anywhere sooo much!
