Ooh. That's where we're going to go with this episode. It's a tough one all around for everyone involved! It's the start of Noah's surgery and all does not go according to plan. Dun ... dun ... DUN ( Read more... )

I don't think it's fair to say Luke was being dishonest, and especially not to Reid. (He was less than honest with Noah, but that was mostly because Reid told him the truth could interfere with Noah's recovery ( ... )

In an episode or two, Luke walks in on Reid telling Noah 'I was only nice to Luke because of the money.' Luke calls him on it, and five minutes later Reid is hot-and-cold during that conversation where Noah almost sees them together.

As much as the push-pull between Luke and Reid upset me during the next handful of episodes, it did give us Reid saying something like, "I'm Noah's doctor and you're his cheating boyfriend." I just found that line, and ESS' delivery of that line, to be so hysterically funny and mean.

Plus, I can see the reasons behind the push-pull.

Luke: He's the type of person who doesn't want to hurt Noah or Reid. He's confused about whether it's okay to want Reid instead of Noah because he and Noah are 'supposed' to be forever.

Reid: He's completely new to this whole love business and it's something he never wanted. He feels like he's laid his heart on the line for Luke and that Luke is still in love with Noah.

I agree with you on that point. Reid could have walked away from it.

I think you are totally right. Luke was flirting, too. He knows exactly what Katie is talking about when she tells him he has a right to be happy. He tries to avoid it (and does actually) by saying he can't think about it right now. He knows that he and Reid are attracted to each other. He might not want to admit it, but his expressions and demeanor say it all. I don't think he's totally unaware of his actions. I really think he can't help himself. The attraction is just there and he reacts when Reid is in his orbit.

Yeah, I'll chalk it up to Luke being confused but I didn't mean that he was deliberately being dishonest or something like it--he just didn't deal with realizing what he wanted right away in the best way--that's where the "wishy-washy" persona comes into play, but he was confused and this is the first time he's been in this position so I get that. But Reid did get hurt because of it--that's why we saw a lot of mopey Reid or longing Reid faces in the later episodes. And Noah should've known the truth sooner about who Luke wanted so maybe he wouldn't have been so upset later on.

Which leads to this: I get being upset over the fact that Luke still thought he wanted to work things out with NoahYeah, this part just made Noah think there was a chance and even though Noah's a jerk and all, he still deserved to know outright if Luke really did want to move on (even if not necessarily with Reid). I mean, Luke later makes all these big speeches about things not being the same between them but he rarely, if at all, explicitly says that there's ( ... )

I kind of agree that Noah deserved to know what was going on, but after the first real mutual kiss Luke shared with Reid, and after Noah woke up from the surgery, Luke wanted to tell Noah and Reid said that it could hinder his chances of recovery. And after that, Luke never had a chance to tell Noah before Noah saw them together. So, again, I really can't blame Luke at all for hiding things from Noah, when he only did it because the world's best neurosurgeon told him it was in Noah's best interests to do so.

Yeah, I know that was part of the argument but to me, it was always the weakest excuse not to tell Noah, but that's a plot point to avoid Noah knowing the truth and then surprising him with a LuRe kiss when he can finally see. Oh, well.

I sort of think that Rooftop!Luke was pretty clear that he's moved on. Not necessarily with someone else but Luke flat out states that his feelings for Noah have changed. he lets Noah know why. He lets Noah know that he can't trust Noah not to change his mind tomorrow. To me it was very clear that Luke didn't want to get back with Noah. Which is why I was so confused when Luke told Reid that he and Noah were trying to work it out [I even wondered if it was meant to be read as Luke trying to work it out with Noah about how to be friends]. And i don't think that Luke ever gave Noah the impression after this that he and Luke could get back together. YMMV.
