No Luke today, kiddos! But no worries! We've got a special treat lined up for tomorrow to fill our Luke needs!

Our clip starts out with Bob and Kim talking about how they've been married for twenty five whole years which is so weird since their kid is around thirty-four and he was born during their on-screen marriage in 1986, which should make him ( Read more... )

I agree about the whole 25 years of marriage thing. It was distracting that the writers thought the general viewing audience wouldn't question that based on Chris's age. (although these are the same writers that gave us the baby rattle, so what was I expecting?)

Reid is perfection, offering to step aside, dissing Janet, wearing that lab coat....

And yes, Chris IS such a dick! If anyone needed to work on their people skills, it was that guy.

Yes, it was so insulting to our intelligence. I mean, if they expect us to accept SORAS of aging, then they should just adjust the entire timeline accordingly. It's offensive, frankly, how they treated us like we were so fucking stupid. And I don't just mean in this instance, but in so many other ways, too.

I IZ BITTER.

I hate Chris so much. SO much.

I love the Bob/Reid bromance though. I will be writing a fic that focuses heavily on them at some point, and I can't wait! I would've loved to have years of Bob & Reid's unique combination of snarking and mentoring. Sigh.

I also love Kim and Reid's relationship.

There was so much potential for just so many different awesome stories Reid/ESS could have been involved in (including, obviously, the most epic love story ever!). It's so depressing they weren't able to really pursue that awesome potential. OTOH, the writers would have squandered it anyway, so...

You know, until I got filled in on Chris's back story, I only hated him a little and found that he could've been a redeemable character in fanfic, but now that I know all about his history on the show, I just find it more offensive than ever that they wrote him a HEA. He's such a dickwad. Ugh.

I enjoy Kim and Reid's relationship, too. I would've loved to see that all resolved in a different way.

I look forward to your story. Write little, monkey! Write! Deliver us the goods!!! :D

I love when Reid is humble with Bob-O. :) Too bad the show ended...it would have been fun to see Chris get all bent out of shape over Reid and Bob'father/son relationship.

Chris. >:-\ Stupid, stupid Chris. He still irritates me months later.

25 years...what a joke. Do you think the actors got that script and were like WTH?

I love it when Reid is humble, too. He just seems like such a darling little kid in those moments. Gah. It makes my heart ache with love of him.

I think the actors on this soap often got scripts and thought WTH. LOL!!

I don't know anything about Don Hastings writing for the soaps, but I have to say rewatching has given me a huge amount of appreciation for his acting ability. I watched ATWT on and off for years and I never really noticed that he was one of the main acting strengths in the cast. But rewatching has made me notice! He doesn't have huge, dramatic moments during this final characater arc, but he's so genuine in his delivery. He's got a nice, delicate touch with Bob, and he doesn't need a lot of "space" (metaphorical or otherwsie) or character ticks to deliver and ground a scene. I suppose that's part of playing the same role for 50 years! Even if Bob was sort of a Luke/Reid obstacle and a Reid prop during the last 6 months, he really stands out for me.

Don Hastings wrote for the show in the 70's when Irna Phillips was still there. Also, Dr. Susan Stewart(Marie Masters) also wrote for the show when Hogan Sheffer was the headwriter.

I'm with everybody else on our hatred for Chris. Personally, I think he must be the secret child of Holden and Kim (in a long ago - Mrs. Robinson type of thing). Please tell me when the "We hate Chris" write a fic starts -I'm there!

Since Reid was dragged kicking and screaming to Memorial, I found it so sweet that he cares about the wing/hospital so much! And Reid wants to go to the party? LOL! Besides the free food, he must really be wanting to show Bob some love...

Bwah! Kim as Mrs. Robinson just made me LMAO.

Oh, and you're right about the need for a "We Hate Chris" fic-a-thon! That would be so much fun! :D
