I'd do a rinse with BS. It sounds like you need to cleanse a bit, get rid of some build-up is all.

This makes me wonder about your water quality. I'd suggest boiling the water for the bs solution then letting it cool down to a tolerable level and adding the bs and mixing until dissolved. And second, that does not seem like the rinse was acidic enough, it is generally 1 T per 1 cup of water, not diluted by half. It could also be that your hair doesn't like acv, maybe try white vinegar or lemon juice instead (1 T to 1 cup water).

Also, if your wetting your hair before using the bs solution, it's diluting it even further and it isn't enough bs. I thought it was odd when hearing it, but just use it on dry hair, it gets your hair plenty wet. And my hair isn't always long enough for this, but I've also been told that it helps to hold the rest of your hair out of the way in a loose pony tail in one hand. That way it doesn't dry out your ends.

I originally tried the 1T to 1C ratio, and that made my hair REALLY waxy. When I cut it down, it wasn't as bad, but still felt "thick"

Also originally I used white vinegar, I'll try switching back to that again.

I had been using it on dry hair, but hadn't tried the pony tail. I'll try that, with higher concentrations again.

There are also tea rinses, though I'm still trying to decide if chamomile tea and I get along, or if the liptons iced tea (hot brew) that was on hand did anything for my hair.

It could also be that baking soda and your hair don't like each other. Although the only thing I can figure is that your water quality suddenly changed if your hair doesn't like that shampoo anymore. You could always try washing with distilled water, which I don't know much about, just what I've read on longhaircommunity.com Or filtered water.

Why do you need 2 cups of baking soda and water? Is one not enough to cover your scalp? And you could always try less baking soda to see if that is the problem, some people find 1/2 Tablespoon per cup is too much.

Two cups is because I mix it in a squirt bottle and that is the size of the bottle. It lasts for quite awhile and I doubt I use more than a 1/4 cup at a time when actually washing.

No-one else in the household has this problem. My hubby is also no-poo and he's still great, although his hair is much coarser and shorter.
