It worked for a while...

Question:

I have been using a natural shampoo (JASON brand) with 1T ACV and 1.5 - 2 cups water  as "conditioner." For a while it worked great.  I originally tried the "normal" ratio BS/ACV (1T to ~2 cups water, a 1T to ~2 cups water) for a while, but it made my hair matted (almost waxy feeling) and extremely greasy as soon as it dried, so I switched to the shampoo and ACV rinse.

It's been about 6 months, and lately even after I wash the underside/ends/back of my hair are still greasy and stringy.  The roots are okay, but the rest... not so much.

Usually I put about 1T shampoo on the roots and massage it well, including the base of the next and underneath.  Rinse it out, and then squirt the ACV mixture on the ends only.  Although, the greasiness happens with or without the ACV rinse. (I don't do it every time)

My hair is bra strap length, straight to slightly wavy, and theres a lot of it but its very fine.

I am very annoyed that it worked so well for so long, and now seems to be a problem.  I have been using corn starch as needed, and putting my hair up a lot.  The starch makes my head itchy, and I'd like to be able to wear my hair down without it.  Any ideas as to what changed?  Could it be that I finally went through the "detox" period and now that the natural oils are balanced again I should try BS?  (I'm a little afraid to go back to it given the waxy results I had before)  I'm tempted to buy shampoo again, but I really don't want to...

Should I try a smaller ratio of vinegar or BS?

Help!

stringy/rough feeling, alternative washes, hair types - fine and wavy, length-bra strap to tushie, buildup, apple cider vinegar, transitioning with a natural shampoo, waxy buildup, baking soda, alternative conditioners
