Am I doing the flax wash wrong?

Yesterday I tried washing my hair with flaxseed.... and I totally failed. =( I doubt it's just because it doesn't work for my hair type or anything, because it just didn't seem to make my hair any cleaner at all. So think it must have been something I did wrong. Can you tell me what it is ( Read more... )

My hair needed a different routine after I started hendigo-ing it. Is it posssible that might have something to do with the flax not doing what you expected ?

Oh, I hadn't even thought of that! But then again, I didn't henna or indigo anytime close to the first time I tried the flax wash. Maybe it's just not meant to be. =(

Well that sucks. Hopefully you just got a bad batch of flax.

it only worked a few times and then i got waxy. :-(

but maybe it only worked those first few times because i used it directly after a hennaing, and the henna might have absorbed oils before the flax went to work.

i still haven't experimented with a little scoop of ground flax to act as an oil to dissolve the sebum (into the goop, not alone)

you have straight hair, right? or very slightly wavy? maybe it only works with curly hair? :-/

My hair is pretty wavy when left to do its own thing. I've read accounts of people with fine, straight hair who said it wasn't great on their hair... but I would have expected it to at least get rid of a little of the grease. Oh well... I might try it as a mask after a bs wash next time and see if it at least improves texture. Don't give up, right? =)

I've got really thick hair but also hard water-- Flax worked (at least better than BS) for me for a while, but then it built up so much that things got even nastier than before. I've stopped using it as of late...

The only time I had success with it pre-hard water was when I had a terrible coconut oil mishap, and it did an excellent job emptying my hair of oiliness. I don't know why it worked then and not now... weird.

Yeah, it's so weird how it seems to sometimes work and sometimes not... Maybe my head was just way too greasy when I tried the wash, hehe.
