I haven't heard of using white vinegar, what's that for? Also, once you've poured the liquid onto your head do you jsut leave it in for (however long you leave each mix in for) and then rinse out? do you massage it in or anything? I'm planning on trying no 'poo eventually, but would like to understand it and techniques used before I try.
White vinegar helps a lot with scalp flakiness. I skipped it once. Once. My scalp was a mess. Used it again and my scalp was right as rain! Vinegar is a low-level acid and essentially eats the flakes away (I can't feel it, though, so it doesn't hurt or anything! Don't want you to get the wrong idea!) I love it - works better than anything else I've tried. It was one of the suggestions in babyslime's list.
I occasionally rub the stuff through or massage it, but I usually just let it drip through my hair, let it sit for a bit, and rinse it out. I think this is all about personal experimentation, but since the liquids are all liquid, and not gel or something, I don't really see a reason to rub it through - it drips through just fine on its own.
Yeah. I find the paste thing unmanageable with my length of hair, and prefer the liquid. Believe me, it gets the job done regardless. Besides, it's the recommended formula in babyslime's essay. It might be hard for people new to the idea to get used to not rubbing stuff through it, though.
