As noticed by theclamsman, the Pepsi v-gifts, styles and mood theme cannot be used any longer.

The options foxfirefey was mentioning in the previous post have already been coded: all users will be able to disable the receipt of all v-gifts. All users but Plus ones will be able to disable the receipt of sponsored v-gifts and Paid and Permanent users will be opted out ( Read more... )

How long did it take them to pull it? That was quick, in usual sixapart relative time.

I suspect they consulted a lawyer, who looked at the TOS, looked at the v-gifts, and said, "you know... all that babble about sponsored content is different from ads isn't actually going to fly in court, right? Especially since you said they were being offered in the hopes that they'd buy the productOr else someone told them how easy it would be to write a script to block the Pepsi content, and that their "it's not ads" stance would make it okay to use the script. (They still haven't made a statement about these being ads--and I suspect they won't, because that would open them to a massive class-action lawsuit--so it'd still be okay to scriptblock them. Hypothetically ( ... )

So they took it out. Said nothing. Took away the "free" - so hard to make ALL GIFTS FREE under the same plan 10 per week for a month?

Feels like the've spent too much time drinking the kool-aid* to make any sane rational service-friendly moves that didn't happen to act as a DDOS on themselves.

NOT AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT: (sorry, i feel like i gotta throw those in these days) I think the controls over vgifts were all already in development since before the pepsi campaign rolled out. At least I remember hearing about them before.

[I work with Six Apart, am not speaking in an official capacity, this is just my opinion, offer void where prohibited, "I'm not even supposed to be at work today!"

That's considered flaming and harassment of staff. You are forthwith banned as per the rules of this community, at least until you can communicate an understanding that this is not appropriate behavior, and apologize to anildash for your inability to interact with him in a somewhat level and sensible manner.
