As noticed by theclamsman, the Pepsi v-gifts, styles and mood theme cannot be used any longer.

The options foxfirefey was mentioning in the previous post have already been coded: all users will be able to disable the receipt of all v-gifts. All users but Plus ones will be able to disable the receipt of sponsored v-gifts and Paid and Permanent users will be opted out

NOT AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT: (sorry, i feel like i gotta throw those in these days) I think the controls over vgifts were all already in development since before the pepsi campaign rolled out. At least I remember hearing about them before.

[I work with Six Apart, am not speaking in an official capacity, this is just my opinion, offer void where prohibited, "I'm not even supposed to be at work today!"

*raises eyebrow* Really? Because the very same suggestion had been rejected less than a year ago and this one was submitted four months ago and no answer has been given yet. Besides, dixit coffechica, the former suggestion has been allowed again precisely because free gifts made it easier to spam somebody. It seems obvious v-gifts had never really been considered as a spam tool or a harassment tool before by LJ.

Personally, I had never seen anything in the Trac repos about this issue before (which doesn't mean that there wasn't or that it wasn't developed elsewhere, of course).
