[after Byakuya offers to free the bunny.]By the time he'd gone through the ream of legal documents for the second time (and had come up equally confused as he had the first time), Byakuya was more than willing to do anything to get him away from the damnable convolutions of legalese. Thus, when he found out about Rukia's bunny and its current ( Read more... )

Sakura made her way upstairs alone, leaving Ichigo to do -- well, whatever it was he was doing in his room. It didn't seem like he wanted to be disturbed, so she let him be. If he joined them later, he would. It didn't really matter to her either way.

When she arrived, she saw two things: the huge rabbit, wedged very nicely in the stairwell, and Rukia's brother, deep in concentration. No doubt he was trying to figure out the best way to move it. "You know," she said as a greeting. "It's fairly impressive that Rukia managed to get it up this far. That thing is nearly twice her size."

"I have made it my personal policy not to underestimate Rukia," was his grave reply. Truly, the girl could be a force of nature when she wanted to be. She was exactly like one of those small puppies who acted as if they were bigger, stronger, tougher than anybody else, and because they acted that way, everybody believed them.

He'd fallen silent again, pondering the vagaries of 7 foot tall plastic rabbits and stairwells. Finally, he suggested, "Perhaps if I shoved at it from my end, and you pulled from your end, we can move it down the stairs a ways and get the ears out from in between the stair rails."

"That seems like a sound enough plan," she replied, wrinkling her brow. She rubbed her hands together (it's GO time), bent her knees (just so, this much force with that much momentum at this angle should do the trick) and took hold of the rabbit. Where in the world did Rukia GET this thing, anyway?

"Ready when you are."

Life was all about hard choices. Sometimes painful decisions had to be made for the greater good. It was with this in mind that Rukia finally appeared at the top of the stairs, tub of butter in one hand and carving knife in the other. A small hacksaw might have been better, but given the toughness of the thanksgiving turkey the year previous (she had been left to watch the oven) she was confident that said knife could make short work of the rubber.

Placing herself in the direct trajectory of the rabbit, were this last push to dislodge it, she held out both objects to her assembled crew. "If all else fails, we can take the ears off."
