Experiment - wasabi apple tuna salad

Mar 28, 2007 14:44

2 cans tuna, drained and rinsed
1 apple, diced
3 tbsp Inglehoffer wasabi-horseradish sauce
1-2 tsp black peppercorns

Mix. Eat!

It turned out pretty well, so I plan to make some for hammercock's wedding.

The Inglehoffer wasabi sauce is pretty mild. I wouldn't use a hot one, it'd be overwhelming. You might try wasabi mayonaise, but I didn't want the fat. Straight horseradish would probably work too. The peppercorns might be too much, but if so I'd just omit them. I tried crushed black pepper, but felt it clashed with the apple. A little bit of Tabasco sauce or Melinda's might be a good substitute. I also think some dried raspberries might be a good addition; I plan to test that next time.
