I guess I'll save my anger at the government's miserable response to Katrina for later, and skip right to the begging. The situation in NOLA still far worse than it was pre-Katrina, and the groups actually doing the work could still use our help.

It is still really bad in some places. People are still working hard at fixing as much as they can. It's amazing. I remember driving down there a few weeks after with a friend and her family and it was amazing. I didn't think it would ever come back. It was awful. Houses looked like piles of match-sticks. Things were just awful. I've never seen something that looked so hopeless in my entire life. It's a lot better but nowhere near done.
