I'm sorry things never worked out between us, but then again I realized that they were never meant to be...

There was once a little girl who lived on a beach. And in the ocean just off this beach lived hundreds of thousands of seastars. Each day, the tide would come in, and when it went back out again, it would strand thousands of the seastars on land, where they could quickly dry out and die in the hot sun. So each day, the little girl would go down to the beach, and carefully pick up each seastar, carefully bring it down to the water, and throw it back in the ocean. Thousands of times she would do this, picking up each seastar and returning it to its home.
One day, a man came to the beach, and observed the little girl as she threw the seastars back in the ocean. 'Little girl,' he asked her. 'Why are you bothering to try and save these seastars? There's far too many for you to ever be able to save, and once the tide comes in, theyre just going to get stranded again!'
The little girl carefully picked up another seastar, carried it down to the water, and threw it in. She looked up at the man and said 'Well, I saved that one'
