Chopsticks.

This story is about an old man who led an extraordinary life. And when he died, this man reached the pearly gates of Heaven only to find St. Peter. St. Peter said to the old man "You have led a life full of neverending kindness, of respect, and of love. You, sir, have led such a wonderful life that i will grant you one wish before you enter the gates of Heaven." The old man thought for a moment, then said that he would like to see what Hell was like. St. Peter found this an odd request as this man could have anything he wanted, but said to the man, "You have led such an extraordinary life that i will take you anywhere."

So down to the gates of Hell they went. The old man looked around. Now, in Hell there is a banquet table that extends farther than the eye can see and is piled high with food. And around this table sit the people of Hell, all scrawny, hungry, and miserable. The old man turned to St. Peter and said "There is plenty of food here for these poor souls to eat. Why are they so hungry?" St. Peter just told the man to look closer at the hands of these people. So the man turned back to see what the peoblem was. What could be preventing these people from enjoying this scrumptious banquet? He saw attached to each hand a six foot long chopstick. He watched as they struggled to get the food to their mouths, but the chopsticks were far too long and just got in the way. It was impossible to feed tehmselves.

The old man said "I've seen enough of this horrible place. Take me back to Heaven." So St. Peter returned them to the pearly gates of Heaven and let the old man through. There he saw the very same banquet table with food piled just as high and people sitting all around. But all these people were cheery and fat. They passed the infinite time with laughter and song. The old man looked closer and saw that though these people were all well-fed, they too had six foot chopsticks attached to their hands. The old man after seeing this turned to St. Peter and asked how these people were so happy and full even though they are in the same situation as those in Hell.

St. Peter looked at the old man and simply said "In Hell, each man tries to feed himself, but here, in Heaven, we feed each other."
