heart-poundy

any of you inhaler-users have any suggestions on what to do about the pounding-heart side effect? other than not use the inhaler? i don't even have any klonopin left, and this is not fun. (not "i need to go to the emergency room" level, just unpleasant. resting heart rate around 102.) maybe i'll lie down for a bit and try some meditation ( Read more... )

All I know is how much it freaked me out, but that my doc assured me it's normal, and should decrease as my body adjusts to the medicine.

good to know. (er, that it will hopefully decrease, not that you were freaked out.) my doc mentioned it as a side effect, but gave me no more info than that.

I noticed that I got into arguments with T about 10-20 minutes after I would use my rescue inhaler. I get the heart rate increase, and really edgy and shaky hands. I can't stop talking to save my life. heh. Like anyone could tell. :) But it's worse when albuterol is involved.
I sometimes actually crave a cigarrette during those jitters -so bad- I think so the nicotene would calm me down. It totally defeats the purpose, but there you have it.
On the other hand, it helps get me up and moving and doing stuff because I can't sit still.

y'know, between being able to breathe deeply again and the jitters, i was noticing the urge to fire up my hookah. i'm currently resisting the temptation, b/c i'd like to continue being able to breathe deeply for a while. >:D

y'know, i took my most recent dose (and this is an albuterol inhaler i'm using) an hour or two ago, and i'm talking nonstop in my head. and, it seems, on LJ. not that that's SO big a stretch. >;)

What has helped prevent it for me is to not get it on my tongue when taking a hit. I swear that is what the doctor told me when I was a kid.

hmm, i'll bear that in mind, thanks. after the first dose, where i hadn't quite gotten the hang of starting to inhale before i pushed down on it, i've made a point of angling it up a little anyway.

although it does seem that mucous membranes are mucous membranes, and it shouldn't make a difference, but who knows. maybe it helps psychologically, and as long as it does help, who the hell cares why or how? >;)
