michelle's apparently talking up a storm now. she definitely has visual recognition of her family, although she doesn't always remember all their names. but apparently she worked out the TV remote on her own (he was pretty proud of that; i said "hey, she's always been a quick learner") and somebody on whatever show (my guess is "bernie mac", but ( Read more... )

forgot to mention the extra-good news -- she's already asking to go home. they're going to try and get her sitting up on the edge of the bed for a while today, and start building up her strength. i think it can only get better from there.

well, normal for HER, at least. >:)

i'm really hoping that getting the drugs & such out of her system combined with increasing her activity will get things firing properly in her brain.

send her some pics, huh? especially since she's known you & me a long enough time that, even if some shorter-term/more recent memories are fried, she oughta recognize us.

there's still no guarantee that she'll get, well, back to being her, but she's apparently improving pretty drastically, and the brain is an amazing organ. i'm really hopeful.

well, bear in mind that she currently doesn't have access to a computer at the hospital (i seriously doubt that they have laptops in this family). they were just willing to print out pics to give her. so if it's non-animated, it could do. >;) sorry if i wasn't clear about that!
