Summary: After the dead vanish and Matt gets the courage to go home, he takes his newly found kitten, Sophie, with him to introduce her to her new home.

Mello probably wouldn't admit it, but the photo made him smile. Matt really was smitten with the little creature. It was actually good to see him excited about something.

He got the message; Matt wanted him home, and with a little shake of his head, Mello actually went so far as to send him a quick text: Be home in 15. Don't let it piss in the house. Had to keep up his grumpy reputation, after all. And the apartment was already worn out and old enough without having to smell.

True to his word, Mello came back when he said he would, opening the door and slipping inside with the soft creak of leather and old hinges.

The buzz in his pocket signaling a new message made Matt dig his phone back out. A smile came to the redhead's lips at the note from Mello. Oh yeah. He wanted to meet Sophie. Matt could see through all that attitude the blond threw out there to the world, after all, he did know Mello when they were kids after all.

Matt hadn't bothered to reply, he knew the older would be true to his time frame and Mello did live here too after all. Sophie had gone to explore the kitchen, a few pans had been knocked over that had been long since abandoned in the cabinets under the stove years ago. The entrance of the blond had almost gone unnoticed.

Scooping up Sophie, the gamer headed to the front door and smiled brightly at Mello. "Welcome home!" Matt held the kitten in such a way he could move one of her paws to make it look as though she were waving hello, much like one of those 'lucky cats' from Japan.

Argh sorry for all the delay. Midterms are eating my liiife ;A;

Mello turned in the middle of tugging his boots off, leaning against the doorframe, and raised an eyebrow at Matt and the way he was making the kitten wave. All the same, something like a smile twitched at the corners of his lips.

Kicking his boots the rest of the way off, Mello stretched his arms about his head with the soft popping of a few bones and stepped forward, reaching out.

"Let me see."

Matt couldn't help but smile, he had made Mello smile and his mission had been accomplished. The kitten was held close to his chest as the redhead moved over to the older, still smiling and playing with one of Sophie's paws, pushing on the pad t show off her little claws.

"Careful... Don't mess up your leathers. She's a little squirmy when held again." Matt held the kitten out to the blond, careful not to drop her or have her squirm out of his grip.

Ritsuka had waited a short while after receiving one of the forwarded picture before he could wait no longer and had run off to meet the kitten. Chewing lightly on the inside of his lip he knocked on Matt's door, rocking on his heels. He hoped this was all right. He liked Matt.

Matt opened the door when he heard the knock, smiling at the person on the other side. "Hey Ritsuka! Are you here to meet Sophie?" The older smiled at the cat-boy, his head tilted to the side a bit, closing the door a bit as he felt said kitten rub against his leg, afraid she would try to escape. "No no.. Stay in your home, Sophie. It's a shitter outside."

Ritsuka nodded, giving a bit of a polite bow, ears low in a shy manner. "Hello Matt-san." He brightened at the brief peek at the kitten, giving a small laugh, ears darting up and tail swishing lightly. "She is cute," he said with a grin, "I'm glad you kept her."

"Come in come in." The redhead moved out of the way, reaching down to nudge the kitten away from the door, not wanting her to get out or get stepped on. "I'm glad I got to keep her. If Mello said no I wouldn't have been able to..."
