I am editing WisCon Chronicles Volume 5. I'm looking for essays between 1000 and 6000 words long, on or adjacent to the theme of "Writing and Racial Identity," with the focus on 2010's WisCon 34--panels, discussions, and other events. I want written contributions from people who attended WisCon 34. I will need these contributions by August 27.

I'd love to contribute something, and even had an essay I've been picking at. But the problem is, it's on the Mad Seer/Holy Fool panel in which I participated, and in which race didn't come up too much. Do you solely want issues on the subject of racial identity and writing? I guess there may be a way in which I could work racial identity into the essay (as disability effects people of every racial identity), but I'm not sure it'll end up being the main focus. Is this something you'd still want to see? (Am I making sense at all?)

While the theme of this volume of the WisCon Chronicles is Writing and Racial Identity, that doesn't mean there won't be anything else in there. I will have at least one piece that I know of--another panel report--which may not be primarily about the book's theme. I would really like to see a proposal and/or essay such as you're describing, so please, please get me one.
That said, I would also be interested in anything you have to say on the relationship between racial identity and the panel's topic. For instance, was the racial composition of the panel weighted toward one demographic? What about that of the audience, or of the authors of any recommended reading? But I don't expect Writing and Racial Identity to be the main point of your piece, or of every piece I include. Nor do want to undermine what you envision as the main point.

I like your ideas and I'd be more than happy to include them in the piece.

There's another version of this Call on the Aqueduct Press blog, and versions were sent to the FEM-SF list serve and the Carl Brandon Society list serve. Those include different methods for contacting me.
I will send you my non-LJ email address via a private message in case you have someone in mind to forward it to.
Thanks for your question!
