Sleeping Beauty, chapter four

Summary: This is a sequel to Lost and Found, though I suppose you could read it without having read that. The relationship between Faith and Cordelia is settling in nicely, but something seems... off. And Faith seems to know more than she's letting on. *queue drama* However will they handle it?

Chapter three

The mission had started out great, Spike and Angel leading the attack on the demons by throwing in a flare. As the beasts tried to get out of the lair to the safety of the fresh night air, all that was left for the team to do, was kill them as they exited.
Faith was completely caught up in the pleasure of the hunt, slashing here, bashing there, all the while grinning madly. She really loved this job!
She never felt the knife in her back, she just heard Spike screaming her name. The smack on top of her head, that one she felt. After which everything went black.

“Faith! Look out!”
Spike ran for her as he watched the knife go in, slashing her back from right hip to left shoulder. The bat that hit her in the head next took her out permanently.
“You bloody idiot! I’m going to kill you!”
Spike screamed in rage as he charged the creature that had dared to touch Faith. Two stabs to the chest with his sword and a rude removal of its right arm shut the beast up nicely.
He rushed over to the frail-looking girl, but she was out cold. Spike looked for the van, determined to get her safely in it. As Angel and Team Alfa cleared the way, he carried her across the battle field.
“Faith, can you hear me, love?
“... Faith?”

“Oh god, Faith! What happened?” Cordelia felt all the air getting sucked out of her as Spike carried Faith into the office. He mumbled something incoherent as he headed straight for the Ward.
“Angel? What happened!” She grabbed hold of the vampire, as if squeezing him hard enough would make him tell her.
“Demon got to her, stabbed her in the back, then hit her on the head. If Spike hadn’t pulled her out, it probably would’ve done much worse.”
“Oh god…” She ran after Spike, her mind completely shattered.
