Well, our 5 year old
Sony STR-DE545 AV Receiver died while I was away this trip. It's apparently common for the DSP board to die. The receiver still worked in direct analog mode, but that's all. You couldn't use the equalizer, surround modes, or the internal digital decoder. This is a pain as we use it for watching DVDs

We're not Hi-Fi snobs, we were looking at ONKYO/Yamaha, rather than Denon/Marantz/etc. Our system is very diverse, as I said eventually we'll upgrade other bits, for now it's fine. We have a hard time justifying what we spend on it already!

Yeah, well he might want it for spare parts too. However if you were going to chuck it, I'll have it! BTW, did you price getting it repaired? I would have thought it might be worthwhile, as it's a farily good amp.
