Geeky weekend so far. kyhwana is staying with us until he can get resettled in NZ. He's looking for computer/IT type work.

Well, I felt like I needed some interest besides computer games and such, so I bought myself a helicopter! It's called the Dragonfly 4 from Walkera, and it's the smallest and cheapest one they have, <$US150 ready to fly. Lots of things have been happening, I just haven't been posting much.

At a recent film festival I got to see Howl's Moving Castle, and Steamboy, both subbed. I enjoyed them both, I really loved Howl of course :)

Well, our 5 year old Sony STR-DE545 AV Receiver died while I was away this trip. It's apparently common for the DSP board to die. The receiver still worked in direct analog mode, but that's all. You couldn't use the equalizer, surround modes, or the internal digital decoder. This is a pain as we use it for watching DVDs ( Read more... )

I've been playing with Google Earth. It's a downloadable windows executable, like a cooler version of Google Maps.

Also cool is Flickr, a web photo gallery site.

Geobloggers bring the two together, allowing you to plot geotagged photos in Google Earth. If you look at NZ on geobloggers, I've put up 8 photos ( Read more... )
