IE7 beta's not looking half bad.

God knows I never thought I'd see myself writing that.

Actually, Mac IE sucks as much and more than Windows IE, as it hasn't been updated in over three years. There was a time when it was a groundbreaking browser, though.

But Safari comes as the default browser with any Mac, and Firefox is also available. No excuse for being stuck on IE.

Purely from a standards standpoint, Mac IE is =still= more compliant than IE6.

Which is so, so sad.

I use it because I've never seen a compelling reason not to. I've been to only a couple of sites that ever had a problem with IE, and my feeling is this: yes, there is a 'standard' but more than 90% of all PC users use IE: whatever works with it IS the standard despite any wishes or desires to the contrary. You can't ignore the 900-pound gorilla and it seems silly to try.

I tried Firefox and didn't see any difference at all until I tried to go to some sites that were optimized for IE, and it had trouble rendering them. I like the sites better than Firefox, so I deleted it and went back to IE.

i use ie at work because i only have os9 on my mac and neither firefox nor safari come in os9 versions. altho the new computer is running osx and i use firefox on that, and i use safari at home because firefox for reasons unknown to me refuses to show me a current friends page on lj. but mostly if i'm using ie it's because i'm still on a computer running os9.

I used to use Firefox because it blocked so many more popups and accumulated fewer viruses, but then when I reinstalled Windows and put Firefox back on...it stopped blocking so many popups. D: I don't know what happened.

The tabbed browsing is also really nice. I didn't use it much at first, but now I realize I am addicted to it.

The only problem is that Firefox is a resource whore--on my computer, at least.
