I, too, despise the heat. It's why I moved away from Florida. However, considering everywhere I went in Florida had central a/c - it's looking nicer and nicer. I highly recommend an a/c unit. We're running ours, and it's not that bad inside. The trick is that we have to run them upstairs and downstairs to keep it nice. Otherwise, it's not so nice (which could be the trick for you, since you'd have to hope your neighbor also runs theirs). Is it Fall, yet? That's MY favorite time of the year!

And you now understand one of the main reasons I was chomping at the bit to leave New England. I feel your pain. I wouldn't trade places with you for any amount of money, but I do grok the situation.
