[What IS it with the Malnosso dumping people in the forest this time around? D: It's not helping Derek with his resolve to stay away and not turn the villagers into literal mndnight snacks.

Although...this time, it's not a person's tracks he comes across after a lot of scent tracking, but...a...giant, bipedal rat?

...Really?

Frowning, Derek starts to follow the tracks, using sense of smell when sight fails him. It's difficult, even for his hyped up senses, but he keeps at it.]

[It doesn't take long before Splinter senses that he is being followed. He frowns, looking back at his tracks.

No. If he wipes them away, then he'll alert his follower that he knows of him. He must be more... discreet.

Splinter continues walking, only stooping long enough to pick up a branch. He then continues, at his normal pace, looking for a good place to make an ambush.]

As former head of household, it seemed proper. >.> derek_bliss March 10 2011, 02:11:50 UTC
[The longer Derek follows the tracks, the more certain he is that he's not following 'just' a rat. The path both seems to have purpose...and is also careful in where it goes. There's few accidental breakage of plants; something that's normally a sign of a simple animal making its way through the underbrush.

Hmn. Possible New Feather, then. Derek keeps going, now listening for the tell-tale beats of a heart in addition to following the trail. He's not trying particularly hard to hide at this point; if he does find someone sentient, he doesn't want to scare them, although the vampiric influences are causing him to move silently anyway. Did the person come this way...?]

Even if he was still head of household, I think he'd be usurped. 8) ninjacane March 10 2011, 02:17:52 UTC
[The broken plants are on purpose. Not that Derek would know that.

Splinter continues to walk until he comes to a spot where his tracks will be partially obscured by the undergrowth. It will take his pursuer a few moments to realize they have ended, with any luck. Good.

He looks up and finds a proper tree. Carefully, he steps back into his tracks, trying to put the same pressure as before, until he comes near enough to a low hanging branch that he pull himself up onto it.

Then, he begins to climb.]

[Jay is doing his usual village lurking thing, hiding out in the open. But the presence in the shadow doesn't go unnoticed. He doesn't act right away; he decides to wait a little longer to see what it would do.]

[It is going to watch you and not move, for the moment. Splinter is aware that he's been sensed. He won't be the one making the first move if he can help it.]

[Jay tries to ignore that presence, to convince himself that it's nothing significant, but his senses tell him otherwise. He waits for the crowd to more or less clear out before he turns in the general direction, an inquisitive look upon his face.]

[Nuh-uh. Not moving. First move is yours. Splinter won't fall for it.]

[If Splinter finds himself lurking near CH1, he can find Naruto among a group of... himself, around the southern side of the building. They're talking amongst themselves before just breaking out into a stretching routine. Obviously, they were getting ready for something that requires stretching beforehand.

Too bad he's not paying any mind to his surroundings. He's busy with work.]

[When Splinter comes across the Narutos, he is taken more than a bit aback. He was not aware that humans had such huge litters. From what he had understood through the news, six or more being born at once was incredibly rare. And yet... there were many boys here, all similar. Too similar.

Perhaps he can gain some information by watching them. And so he crouches, looking through a small hole in the nearby brush, and waits to learn more.]

[After another moment of just stretching, the group of Narutos turn to face each other in a circle before just essentially brofisting each other. Then, they spread out from each other, leaving only two near each other while the others back off to form what looks like a line of relay runners.

Naruto still doesn't notice the audience, so the two next to each other begin to work together to start swirling together a ball of chakra.]

[Splinter's eyes widen. He has not seen a technique like this before! He crouches a bit lower, watching the ball of chakra form. Splinter can feel the powerful energy coming off of it. Perhaps he should watch from a safer distance than this?]

[Usually Vash is pretty good at noticing when he's being watched, what with the above average senses, but seeing as Master Splinter is a MASTER and not giving off a: I want to shoot you for what your head can bring me vibe, he passes right under Vash's radar.

Besides, he's a little busy right now. Talking... to... the ground...]

Aw, come on. I walked all the way from the village to check on you guys! Aren't you growing yet? Pretty, please? Won't you grow for me? Even just a little bit. Come oooon! Pleaaaaaase?

[Someone is a little impatient for his flowers to start to grow back. Splinter is welcome to pick up on the fact that Vash has a gun strapped to his hip under his big red coat.]

[And in his search for his sons, Splinter finds himself watching a man talk to the ground. It takes him a moment to realize that he is not quite talking to the ground, but to the plants within it.

The gun, however, he notices immediately. Just because the man is fond of flowers does not mean he won't become incredibly dangerous if he sees him. Splinter remains hidden.

And watches.]

BTW just so you know I'm totally cool if this is a short thread. Vash is being duller than I thought goldenglasses March 11 2011, 01:30:59 UTC
[After a little more pleading and are those... tears? Vash finally gives up.]

Oh well, I guess you'll grow when you're ready. You are okay down there, aren't you, little friends? [He shivers a little.] It's getting a little cold now, so I have to go back to the village, but you guys work on growing while I'm gone. [He turns and throws a wave over his shoulder at the patch of ground.] See ya.

[He moves toward the direction of Luceti, then pauses. He takes a brief look around. It seemed like something... no, it was alright. Knives is gone for now and Legato has been quiet. He's just a little too stressed out still from his brother's sudden arrival. So he hurries along again, talking out loud to himself.]

Oh man... Meryl will chew my head off if I get myself sick staying out here so long. And Wolfwood... I'll never hear the end of it! [He grins.] So maybe I better stop by Seventh Heaven for some soup before I go home~

LOL, no problem. There is always time later! ninjacane March 11 2011, 02:00:58 UTC
[Splinter freezes completely when the man almost seems to catch him, but relaxes when he doesn't. A silent sigh. This one was a handful, wasn't he?

For a moment, he almost smiled.

Names and the promise of food. Splinter decides to follow him as long as he can. An accidental guide.

Well, this wasn't the first time.]

[Somewhere between CH1 and the path into town, there is yet another a ninja hanging about. This one's sitting stretched out in a tree, leaning against it's trunk.

His attention is on the sky, but that doesn't mean he's entirely unobservant of things going on in the shadows below him. His actual interest just varies.]

[Splinter does remain hidden, but it goes to show either of Shikamaru's skill--or is it laziness?--is great, for Splinter does not sense him until he is nearby. He stops when he does, looking up at the boy.

His relaxed position does not speak of the strength and dexterity that would be necessary to climb such a tree. But Splinter knows.

He pauses for a moment, then decides to retrace his steps so that he may walk around the young man instead of confronting him.

Best to let sleeping Shikamaru's lie.]

[...well that's interesting.

Training takes over here. Someone is deliberately trying to stay out of his path, and they're doing a damn good job of it too. But what reason would anyone here have for that?

He wishes he'd gotten a good look at the person below. Careless. He can't afford to look now lest he give himself away, but he's paying attention now, head tilted a fraction of an inch so as to better hear the steps below.]

[Splinter knows immediately when he's being listened to, and there's a moment's hesitation before he continues. The young man is good. A ninja, most likely. Or, at least, a very skilled warrior.

He listens for any signs of trouble himself.]
