Just got my response from NYU -- No love. Thus, I will be returning to muggy-as-hell during the summer but actual-snow-getting during the winter Indiana as of sometime this summer (hopefully after a Clarion Workshop -- fingers crossed). I'm sorry about NYU, but it sounds like you'll have a much stronger application this year.

Have you thought about CMS at MIT, with the man Jenkins himself? I don't know that much about it, but it seems like it could be a possibility...

While the program is undoubtedly the awesome, it has the drawback of being a master's level degree, without a direct lead-in to a PhD (as far as I know). However, it is an M.S. instead of an M.A., and it's Henry "The Man" Jenkins, as you say.

I will ponder this possibility -- and send "The Man" an e-mail asking for any advice he can give.

Oh, I thought it was a PhD - shows you just how little I know about it! Good idea about emailing HJ, though. :)

However, I wish you the best of luck on your entrance to Clarion. I have an application in, as well, and I guess that only time will tell. It would be totally badass for us to be in Clarion together, though. =)

Which one did you apply to, Clarion or Clarion West?

I'm actually applying to both, since both have teachers I'd be really excited to work with--Clarion West has Samuel &#%*!ing Delaney as well as Kelly Eskridge. Clarion SD has Cory Doctrow and Jeff VanderMeer.

It would however be mega-awesome to be Clarion classmates. Did you apply to West or SD?

Man, the odds are so stacked against us being Clarion Classmates that it would be crazy if it happened. *chuckles*

On the one hand, it's a damn shame you didn't get accepted. I'm sure you'll crush them all next year.

On the other hand, we can get the band back together this summer, since you, Jim, Jason, and I will all be in the neighborhood. Woot! :)

If you decide you'd like to do something wacky, like a volunteer gig at a national museum in DC sometime before Aug, let me know. I have an extra bed now that you'd be welcomed to crash on. The cats may not make your allergies happy, though.
