Hard to believe I am no longer a "30-something." My birthday was fairly uneventful. I worked, taught class then covered a local barbershop chorus for a story on the actual day. I met with family for breakfast the next day, which was very nice

You know, I personally had my own impression from Vladislav Krapivin's "The Pilot for Special Missions". I agree that it could be a great movie of Hayao Miyazaki did it. But you know, when I read this, I had a strange impression that I've in my childhood seen the puppet animation based on it. It reminded somehow films of Roman Kachanov or Arnold Burovs. But at the same time I knew that there's no such film. Possibly it was only interferention of some my childish impressions.
