Well, a place kick is pretty much basic. A kicker places the football on a tee in order to kick it through a field goal, it's not commonly used anymore. It's also mistaken for an offside kick during kickoffs, where the ball is kicked short in order for the kicking team to be able to re-take possession of the ball.
Four-Four Forty is often referred to when someone's saying, "I can run a four-four forty." It's basically when the players can run a forty yard dash in 4.4 seconds.
