Doooooooooom(sday). I just finished the most satisfying thing: a week during which one of my best buds stayed with me and worked on her thesis by day and we went through the rest of series one by night...she became as highly addicted (and strung) as I could have wished- allowed me to relive all my first-love rush and FINALLY share it with someone I ( Read more... )

Have you read my Seed Pearls? Alt!Nine after "Doomsday"--think you might like it!

Then there are:

Try by prchung (WIP)

Dogstar by the_sandwalker (also WIP)

Wolf Moon by amberfocus (yet another WIP)

Illyria by tardis_stowaway (series with four complete stories)

Those four are my favorite Alt!Nine post-DD stories. Amazing work by amazing authors. Go and read!

Alt!Nine in Pete's World is fairly common--some good, some bad, some indifferent. I've also seen quite a number of Alt!Eight/Rose stories. People don't write Alt!Ten, though, I think probably because if they want a Ten/Rose reunion, they write, well, a Ten/Rose reunion. Pete's World, though, is an excellent opportunity for Rose to meet former incarnations. I've even seen an Alt!Four story, and a few Alt!Romanas and Alt!Masters.

Oh, you poor thing. That beach scene has to be one of the most gut-wrenching things I've ever seen on TV. :(

::sobs without dignity:: uh huh... even without context. How much do I want to curse the BBC? A lot. ::sniff:: Dammit, Nine would have said the words, would have crossed any line to get back to her in fact...I just need to go hide in my carefully preserved Nine-land again. and hope it's not too late....Because hearing even one half of them say "I love you" was almost worth it. In the same way That Kiss in POTW was almost worth it. In the way it makes you curse the BBC, worth it.

The beach scene is rough, but the wall's what really breaks my heart every time . . . that dead, blank, "my heart's just been ripped out and handed to me" expression of loss on Ten's face is just so . . . hurgh. You can see Nine looking out through Ten's eyes in that shot.

yeah....which is why I retreat into whatever shell I can erect around me at this point and simply say Nine isn't gone. I'm even liking Ten, now, now that he seems to feel what he ought. But I'll never be reconciled...the depth and intensity that were there before are so great.

Yeah, CE and BP had such amazing screen chemistry, they made Nine/Rose into an epic romance from the get-go without even needing any scripted moments to play up their connection.

DT played/plays Ten as a much "colder" and more emotionally-reserved version of the Doc (all the superficial manic stuff becoming more and more clearly a "cover" for Ten's actual feelings) -- but over the course of S2, and especially S3, where you can see how much Rose's loss has affected him, a really impressive depth of emotion develops. After watching S3, going back and watching S2 is actually painful, because, by comparison, you can see how much Ten loved Rose, even if it wasn't as obvious at the time.

Oh, ow . . . that reminds me of Broken Wall by faythbrady. It *hurts*.

It is some of the most meanest scenes for a fangirl, isn´t it? I intended to send you the link to Wolf Moon, but honorh already did!
I was in tears all the time. But I have to say, I cried more at "Parting of the ways". But I know exactly how you feel! *hug*

Thank you! you know, I think I did too; my reaction to Nine's sacrifice is still more visceral...but this on top of my recent rewatch was a bit much. Thank God for fellow fangirls. <3

I have an ambivalent reaction to that scene, but it was certainly designed to make you feel like you're feeling, so success! ::hug:: It's okay. Read those alt!Nine stories. They're all great. It always feels like Rose belongs to Nine, and the happiest ending would be for her to find him, somehow, some way, in another space and time.
