What I've been doing when not at the computer

Apr 29, 2009 19:05

I've been very, very busy with things that keep me looking at a screen, so instead of relaxing by reading or writing, I've been doing ( this )

rl, crafts, busy

Thanks - I'm so far behind on LJ I may not even try to catch up! But hopefully things will easy up in about a week. I hope! I really hope!

How are you doing?

I'm doing all right. Nothing too exciting to report. Still into Numb3rs fandom even if the show is lacking in quality.

...that is beautiful. Is it knitted or crocheted?

Thank you! It's crocheted. I was pretty happy with it, although it took me a while to get it into shape. It's for a friend's little boy. To be honest, he's more of a Star Wars freak, but I couldn't find an R2D2 pattern. Besides, I liked the popcorn stitch bumps and the post grilles.

Hah. My cousin is having a baby in December, and my mother is after me to make him/her something. I...will probably not make this. But I will wish I had the skill.

If you can do simple stitches, you can do a baby blanket or make a simple stuffed animal. This monkey I'm making for another friend's little boy is just single and double crochets with a few decreases. But simple stitches with some nice yarn will go a long way! Even 100% cotton burping cloths…

Heh. Thank you! It was made in return for an "Extermaknit" knitted Dalek that a friend made me as a novelty Christmas present. Her little boy fell in love with it and had trouble parting with it, so I made this as a return for him. The only really tricky part was getting the whisk threaded onto the arm without bending everything out of shape.

How are you doing?

YAY! Your Daleks look awesome. I have some TARDIS-inspired dishcloths that I need to post a picture of.

Thank you! It's just one, from several different angles (and you can't really see the crystal bead "lights" on the top). But it's been a while since I've done something like this. Right now, I'm making a crocheted stuffed monkey for another little boy, while trying to remember how to knit. I'm multi-tasking by making cotton facecloths while practicing various knitting stitches. I've never been as good at that as I have been at crochet until I learned continental style knitting, which is much easier for me.

It seems that the more computer-y stuff I do, the more I need to be crafty.

Hi!!

I thought it was a pretty cute pattern, and I improvised the finishing - honestly, the finishing was the hardest part, particularly the whisk.
