Did I mention I hate public speaking?

Thanks to the internet, my recent speaking engagement has been published in digital video.

Turning Challenges into Opportunities It's about email marketingClearly, I cannot stand still. Nor, did I realize how much I talk with my hands. Perhaps, it's only when I'm nervous? Yes, I was petrified ( Read more... )

You'll get used to these the more you do them. Gestures aren't the end of the world, and can make you seem enthusiastic about the subject. Plus, I've seen worse at some of the conventions I've been to. You did good.

Talking with your hands while on stage is a good thing. The bigger the room, the bigger you gestures can get. Of course wildly windmilling ones arms about is going over the top.

Unless of course you're talking about wild windmills.

I think you did well. Yay Mel. You were clear and not boring and seemed confident even though you were stuck in the NEXT to the podium, out in the open, vulnerable no mans land. That would have made me super nervous.

I think that was the first time I ever saw you use air quotes in a not ironic sort of way.

Let me say that I have a better idea of what you do now. :) You sounded great and I think that the hands thing is not bad at all. Your co-worker seemed less enthusiastic than you.

Oh... and could you cut back on the e-mail that I get from expedia. *grin*

BTW... If you have any tech writing jobs open, give me a buzz. It is not for me but I know someone that will be in the market at the end of the month and I want to try and help her out if I can. No names on LJ and all that stuff, but you might already know.

And don't forget that when the rain clears up your gonna come visit on the scooter. :)

If it's not pouring down rain this weekend, that could be an option.
