A while back, in summer I think it was, I was driving my friend Warren home after hanging out for the evening. It was after 11pm and pitch dark. For those of you who know the town I live in, he lives right across from the capitol building. We were driving down the street past it, when he ( Read more... )

It's always good to take a close look at Nature once in a while.

Yeah, I get pretty messed up when the snow is falling, and for me too it probably first happened in Colorado. Falling snow tends to make me deeply and romantically stupid...

...Kissing total strangers in the mall kinds of stupid.

I am one of the only guys I know that enjoys having a good hard 8" overnight...

" Even if I wasn't outside to see it, the mist would've still been there. It would've looked the same even if nobody was outside to see it. Nature doesn't give us these things, she just does them, and when we're lucky enough to be out in it, to get a look at what Nature's doing, it's our own good fortune to be in the right place at the right time."

Yes, yes, oh my fucking deity, YES!!!!! Plus three infinity!

Um, I mean, I agree :-)

I was surprised to find out that a lot of people in the areas out here that got snow the other night felt exactly the same way about it as I did. Everyone I've heard from on this was mystified and totally floored by the beauty of Nature. I guess this means there might be hope for the human race yet. :-)

I went to the snow over the weekend, and I saw it sparkle in the nearly full moonlight. I didn't know snow sparkled. I went there on purpose, to enhance the hot springs in Sierraville, but I never really thought of it as beautiful before then, unless it was on a mountain or something.

As for taking photos when there's little light, my impression is that it all depends on your camera. It's not something a little point-and-shoot is good at, although I could be wrong. It's definitely something a much more expensive digital SLR is good at. It's the kind of thing I'd normally ask joedecker or foxgrrl.
