Do you know why I have an entire tag devoted to "squeaky wheel:sbc"?  Because they are all morons.

I beat my head against their brick wall yesterday, calling three separate times (and traveling through the phone tree three separate times), talking with three different reps AND a manager, and not a single one of them considered

Dude! I wish I had known about your troubles a few weeks ago! I do those online survey things for money, and I did one that involved a bunch of major phone carriers, including SBC. I'd never heard of them before!

Maybe I should do a follow up email.

Oh, I hate SBC! They are the idiots when I moved into my first apartment on my own and set up my first landline all under my name proceeded to keep charging me for internet through them because the previous tenants had it. Not the previous person with that phone number, oh no, the previous person at that apartment. It took an unbelievable number of calls to figure out what was going on. I hate them.

Your old phone number only used four digits? That would have been awesome! I'm so sorry they made you lose it.

Dealing with phone and cable companies always seems to be the worst experience. Probably because it's such a hassle to change providers or in many cases, it isn't possible at all.
