Ye Olde Quickie Post

This weekend was...way too short. (But then, aren't they all? :) ) Saturday was spent first at our subdivision's garage sale, at which we made about $150. Which I think is a pretty good haul for a garage sale. At the very least, it got rid of some stuff. Then we went into town to drop off the stuff that didn't sell and that we didn't want to put on ( Read more... )

ebay, music crap, boring real life

Actually, we were good. I bought a cinammon roll for breakfast for $1.00 and Frosty bought a houseplant for $.50. Oh, and I bought a soda later on for $0.75. So that's...$2.25. We would have likely spent more, except that no one else had Cool Stuff. We had Cool Stuff. :)

*pokes head in*

I'm thinkin' that looks like a football jersey, since hockey jerseys have long sleeves... I'm also thinkin' that's probably why I didn't buy one when I saw it. ;)

*muses* I wonder if I could get a jersey from one of the red-wearing NHL teams and re-work it into a 'Bot jersey...

Drat it all, now you've got me thinking of stupid sewing projects that I'll have to sweet-talk my mom into helping me with. XD

*removes head before I get myself in more fan-project trouble*

Sounds like a good project to me. ;)

And I should have known that hockey jersey have long sleeves. Duh. Especially since hockey is pretty much that only televised sport that I'll willingly watch. *sigh* Ah well. Too late to change it now. :)

That jersey - OMG, it's even in Skywarp colours!

HAH! That's true. Needs some teal bits, though. I think the teal bits are my favorite part of Skywarp's color scheme.

That's really good for a yard/garage sale. What did you have? Other than, obviously, swarms of customers.

And I still prefer Rachmaninov. Though I don't really know what the cello part in his compositions would be like, as I've never tried to identify the seperate parts of the orchestra when listening.

Let's see...Our hottest seller was VHS video tapes. We had an 18-gallon Rubbermaid container full of them, mostly kids' stuff like Blue's Clues and Thomas the Tank Engine, but there was some Knight Rider and Transformers and stuff in there, too. We sold them for $0.50 each, and I think we had just a couple left at the end. Really cleared out the entertainment center, which was nice. Sold lots of books, some hunting equipment, some household items, a big, huge canvas tent that had been taking up way too much room in our shed. Just a bunch of various stuff. The highest-ticket items that we sold were a DVD player for $15 and a keyboard for $10. I think the secret was that we had true garage sale prices. We sold everything for really cheap, so people generally bought lots of stuff from us, and it slowly added up. Also helped that it was a subdivision-wide sale held in the subdivision rec center's parking lot. Lots of draw that way, although people were saying that it wasn't as big as it was last year ( ... )

On the subject of classical composers, what do you think of Dvorak? Can I at least hope that HE gave cellos a good role?

(Meanwhile...did you find my e-mail? You know me better as "Armament Armed Arm"...)

I love Dvorak, really. I adore his string quartets and his piano quintets (Piano + string quartet). His chamber music in general is Good Stuff (with, yes, good cello parts). Of course, his 9th symphony is his most famous work, and is lovely, too (with, again, good cello parts :)). And he wrote a gorgeous, gorgeous cello concerto that I listen to a lot, especially if Rostropovich is playing it. In all, I think he's one of those overlooked composers. Gets drowned out by Brahms, I think. And Wagner. *rolls eyes*

And I got your email, yep. When I tried to reply, I got a bounceback and then...I forgot to retry. I'm sorry! I just tried again, and hopefully it'll go through this time... If not, I'll PM you at ezBoard, if you've got PMing enabled.
