Yay for overactive brains and annoying Decepticons. :p

I had one of those nights last night where my brain just refused to shut down. I don't know why. I think part of the reason was that it rained through the night. I used to find that sound soothing, when I lived back East, because it was so common. But I've gotten used to living out here, where rain through the night is decidedly not normal. So I ( Read more... )

Regonizing the grudge against old teachers, too.

I'm still peeved at the substitute teacher, who in grade four, run us non-choir kids through a quiz and then refused to acknowledge that his "correct" answer to what a salamander is, was wrong. According to him and the rest of the class, such an animal is a lizard. Me, being outcast and a nature book maniac, answered "amphibian" and argued my point, but the ignorant majority wouldn't listen to reason. Then, when I had gathered my evidence he was already gone.

Get's my goat every once in a while. :P

Your teacher didn't know that salamanders are amphibians? Wow...

Yeah, it's funny that a lot of my grudges are against teachers. Like Sister Amelia. Oh, and my 8th grade history teacher who accused me of plagiarism on a paper that I wrote about Eleanor of Aquitaine, an historical figure I've been obsessed with...oh, forever. I didn't need to plagiarize, you stupid teacher. :p And the one who dubbed me a "vast reservoir of semi-useless knowledge." That's funny now, but at the time, it kind of hurt. I mean, at the time, I didn't think the trivia that fills 80% of my brain cells (The other 20% being taken up by Star Trek characters and giant robots) was useless at all. ;)

I guess this is evidence of how much influence teachers have over us, since so many of us have grudges against them. Kind of a sobering thought, as an ex-teacher myself...

I guess he thought "if it looks like a lizard, and crawls like a lizard..." Gah, some days I'd love to humiliate him in so many ways... O_o Not like that! ;P

Thinking I'm gonna have to have a rant about the old days soon, just to get it off of my chest.

Plagiarism? How so?

Most of my teachers were pretty cool, though. Just not this one. "Putte" will forever be a thorn in my side, I think.

Ranting works pretty well. At least, for me it does. I write it down and it's gone. Well, OK, it doesn't work all the time, but it does work a good part of the time...

As for the plagiarism: I used words that were too big, apparently. And I appeared to know too much about my subject for an 8th grader. Well, DUH! I'd only been obsessed with her since I was about 6. In the end, though, I had the last word. I had to take a special test to prove that I wasn't plagiarizing. I passed with flying colors and then said to the teacher something along the lines of "bite me." ;)
