I know what you mean about money :( I am not the type to blow great sums of money but lately I have been buying things like clothes and jewelry which I really don't NEED just because they are pretty or on sale.... not wise X_____X and since my job future is uncertain I really ought to be saving as much as possible. What I have been doing to help myself is taking out my spending money at the start of each month and not taking any more money out... that way it is very easy to see how much money I have spent vs how much I have left.

Hope it works for you! You may have to take out extra money if you travel but in general it has been working for me :)

Welcome back! :D
It seems we really have the same taste when it comes to Japanese cities XD
So you didn't eat Kobe beef then? :/

I hope you can still travel somehow, though :)
Good luck with saving your pennies!

nah, neither i nor figgybee are big on beef, so we didn't want to spend the kind of money that would be needed to taste Kobe beef. ^^;

and thanks. :)

i had the same issues, wanting to save money but wanting to travel more. i ended up going to okinawa myself last march. i laid out a budget of about 50,000 yen to go to okinawa... and got a pretty sweet deal on okitour.net for a 3 days 2 nights stay in naha for 29,800 yen (including flight). i'm pretty good with money, so i budgeted and researched enough that i only spent about 4900? (i forget the exact amount) on a bus tour along mainland okinawa and then traveled to other major sites myself. my extra travel was mostly by bus/walking to free places, so it was really cheap. food and souvenirs weren't an issue because honestly, there isn't much to BUY of practical use in okinawa... it's mostly the experience, scenery, and food (in my opinion). i'm pretty sure i came back to osaka under budget ( ... )

wow... the budget you set and the amount you actually spent going to Okinawa seems unbelievable.... crazy. i am in awe. ^^;; if i could pull that off that'd be great.... but it will cost me more than 20,000yen just to get to and from Osaka from Kochi and there is no way to get to Okinawa without going to Osaka or Tokyo first. :'[

thanks for the advice etc though, it's nice to hear someone's actual experiences in doing what i'd like to do. :] i will try to figure out how to make traveling work out for me too. >_<;
