oh god. D; Japan has some real quality* programming on TV at night omg. D; i cant even begin to tell you why it`s quality*, just that it is. D; i would say that America needs to be shown some of this quality* programming, but then all of America would think so horribly of Japan because some of this stuff on TV is just like..... I like Japanese TV to death too, but it's harder for me because my Japanese isn't as good as yours, so I have a hard time understanding 80% of it ( ... )

that show sounds really interesting, but i`m afraid i don`t know it. :[ it probably isn`t airing anymore either since many TV series change with the seasons... do you remember what channel you saw it on? you didn`t happen to catch any anime or a news show on that same channel, did you? D;

what's that show with the foreigners who speak japanese? i've seen it a few times before just by chance, but if you know like what chan/time it comes on i'd like to watch it more - it's so inspiring to see people proficient like that!

uhhh... i can`t remember the name of the show, i just happened to stumble upon it and couldn`t stop watching it lol. but i think that the segment with the foreigners was just a random thing, i don`t think it`s a regular thing for the show... could be wrong. i`ve seen another show that regularly features foreigners, though. "Cool Japan", based on the magazine of the same name if you`ve seen that. i think it comes on friday or saturday nights on BS1 or 2? x.x i don`t know if you have cable. :/ hell, may come on NHK. >_>;

seeing those girls on the other show, especially the ones younger than me, just made me jealous. D;

you may be happy/shocked/surprised/appauled to know that some of the wackier japanese gameshows are getting some spotlights over here in the US. ABC has bought the concepts of 3 of the shows and will begin airing their own American-zed versions this fall. I'm guessing it's because Ellen DeGeneres has become such a fan of some of those shows, particularly "the marshmellow game", and has been showing them constantly on her own talkshow.

I think it's awful that that show would make fun of shrines. Obviously some people in that neighborhood are taking the shrine seriously and for the tv crew to come and an poke fun is upsetting. Okay... maybe the water flowing from the nipples is a little too much, but it symbolizes something series.

ah well... "only in Japan", I suppose is the saying I should conclude with

Ellen? lulz that`s interesting to know. D;

and they weren`t making fun of the shrine at all. nothing on the show was made fun of, just featured and then gawked in amazement/shock at by the guests on the show.

"only in Japan" and "it's Japan (afterall)" are phrases that you`ll find yourself saying to yourself and others a lot once you`re here. seriously, it`s hard to find any other explanation for things sometimes. D;
